To the person who super glued the cracked glass bed to the heat plate of the 3d printer...Don't. it's already too late. Hopefully it separates with enough heat cycles. ASK the section lead before attempting and repair or modifications to the printer. If you don't know who is the section lead, you probably aren't the lead. We have many ways of finding out these things, Google Groups is one of them. Ben's the section lead, but anyone could have told you that supergluing the bed is a bad idea.

I'll add (looking at it in front of me now) that its not an insignificant amount of super glue someone added.  Its like they emptied the remainder of the glue all over the bottom of the glass plate.  gluing down a corner with a very small drop of glue is sufficient to keep the bed in place, maybe two corners on a single side.  Part of the reason the glass cracked in the first place was because someone glued down all four corners a few weeks back rather than just two.  The heat stresses are insignificant when compared to the stresses induced because of the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion of the two materials.

Maybe we need to offer a class on thermal expansion of dissimilar materials?

The glass was there for quite a long time without an issue just being taped on. Not sure why the change?

super glue obviously isnt the best, but there isnt a lot of room for clamps and the kapton tape isnt sticky enough to really hold things in place.  a high temp flexible adhesive would work just great... like silicone.  However, silicone is very hard to clean up... i'm not sure whats best.

Mini binder clips work very well.  Just remove the wire handles after it's been clipped

One thing I think is important to say is that whomever did this should not feel like they are not welcome. Or that they made some horrible mistake. Instead we should just make sure that everyone knows that if you damage a tool that the section head should be notified.

I second that! Thanks Jacob.
