Does anyone know a quote from Albert Einstein, something about if the bees die, the humans will die?

Thanks!

I think it was Rudolph Steiner.

" If bees disappeared from the globe , man would have but four years of life left " , something along those lines

Thanks, that's just what I needed!

This group is the best!

Remember the woman from yesterday, with the old but still good commercial equipment to sell? She also says this group is one of the best, because she already has someone interested!

Thanks!

As far as I understand it, that is a misquote that is best not attributed to Einstein.

Could be , who knows?  Once something like this get currency,  the myth ( if that is what it is ) , supplants the fact.  Good line regardless

Karl says Rudolph Steiner is the author of the quote, "If bees disappeared from the globe, man would have only four years of life left. "

This is probably true, but how many people know Rudolph Steiner? Everyone has heard of Einstein, and after his remark about God not playing dice, it just sounds like he would have made this kind of remark about bees!

The quote and Einstein together make a great myth!

Thanks!

The Einstein attribution might be apocryphal,  but it's inherent value is still there , and likely gets a bit more profile due to its Einstein connection.  End of the day , it's the substance of the quote ; Einstein ' s connection puts it beyond reproach

The only problem, Jeanne, is that solution perpetuates America's growing problem of increasing dependence on myth over truth to guide its actions.

Here's a pretty exhaustive analysis of the quote - there is no evidence that Einstein made it, nor Rudolf Steiner.
http://quoteinvestigator.com/2013/08/27/einstein-bees/

Our major staple crops (Corn, rice, soy, potato, wheat, millet, etc etc) are not dependent upon honeybees, so the claim that we would die off after only four years is most certainly false. If all wild bees disappeared as well then life would certainly be much harder, but even then I sincerely doubt that our very existence would cease in such a short timeframe.

Be skeptical of apocalyptic predictions - no matter who makes them - even if it gets people interested in the issues that bees face. The risk of using apocryphal apocalyptic quotes is that when people doubt their veracity they can doubt the truthful parts of the message.
