Swarm in Verona CORRECTD PHONE

The Verona police left me a message at 6 pm.  There is a swarm of "bees" on the ground at the corner of Horizon Dr and E. Verona Ave. in or near the cross walk.  The officer very cleverly surrounded the swarm with traffic cones to keep cars and people away.

Would anyone be able to go out yet this evening, while it is light, and check out the situation?  If it really is bees, what a chance to pick up an easy swarm.  Please get in touch with the officer on the beat, who is keeping his eyes on these bees.

Really curious swarm.  They were just in the sidewalk.  I have never seen a swarm not on something (at least grass) so it looked just like a puddle of bees.

Interestingly, there were some "tire tracks" of dead bees where it looked like someone rode their bicycle over the swarm (it literally looked like a puddle so they'd be easy to miss)- I'm sure that was a bit scary for the cyclist.

Since it was cool, it was the easiest swarm ever - just a brush and a dustpan in a couple minutes and they were very docile.  Hopefully the queen survived the bicycle incident!

I wish I would have taken some pictures - the verona PD did, so maybe they'll show up.

They were very appreciative to have them removed.  Thank Jeanne for the quick message relay!
