Has anyone used the metal nuc entrance reducers on their regular hive entrances? Will the queen excluder part work for a mouse guard in the winter?

Queen excluder would be plenty small for a mouse guard. You would want to make sure the drones are kicked out first.

Do the drones fit out 1/4" hardware cloth? I am still a newbie, sorry if this is a dumb question.

I just started using them this spring on my big hives. I think I’d use the middle size holes (at the bottom of this pic) during the winter as a mouse guard. I really like them as an on-the-spot entrance adjuster for my hives. I like to be able to shut them right down if there’s robbing going on, yet still give them ventilation. Capital Bee sells them for under $2 each.

Yes, drones fit out of 1/4" hardware cloth.

Those middle sized holes are bigger than any others I've seen, but I can't find that reducer in Capital bee supplies online catalog. Link?
