I've been looking for a replica of Rodin's "The Fallen Caryatid Carrying Her Stone". I've been unable to find anything already made, but I did find a blender file that says it can be 3D printed. Is there a way to get someone there to print it for me? Thank you in advance!!

Read Stranger in a Strange Land recently?  :-)

The best way is to come in and learn about our 3D printer, read the wiki ( http://wiki.lvl1.org/Murphy ) at one of our meetings (I recommend Tuesday Nights for meeting folks and Friday nights for the bad movies) or you can check our calendar, on our website or our wiki.

I've read it more times than I care to count.

I would love to check out some meetings but I had a hip replaced Monday so it will be awhile before I can get out and go to meeting and stuff.

If you're looking for a finished piece (smooth finish) then you'll have to do a little more work post-processing the print.

The print on the left is what you get raw from the printer. The two prints on the right went through a vapor bath to smooth the contours.

We can help you learn how to use the 3D printer here. In addition to Tuesday and Friday, I'm available on Wednesday at 7 PM. I've been teaching folks how to use the 3D printers over the past few months and would be happy to help with that part. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to work with Blender. Research how to export an .STL file from Blender and then you'll be good to go.

You can put really cool graphics on 3d prints with hydrographic films http://makezine.com/2014/02/25/add-patterns-to-3d-printed-objects-with-hydrographic-film/  Never tried it, but it is on my list of things to do.

Nathan,

Could I get a link to the rest of that article?

Thank you for the information, I guess I will wait until I am mobile enough to come to a meeting or two. In the mean time I will look into getting a .STL file

Hey - jut curious if you've ever gotten a viable digital model for the Caryatid Fallen Under Her Stone?
