New Interested Member but providing some needed items to LVL1

I wanted to post and say hello to everyone.  I met many of you on the 4/10 meeting.  I talked to a lot of you about some of the items and resources I have for helping the space out.  I have it outlined below with some notes, just so I dont forget to mention it to anyone.

48V DC Motor for Power Racing - Talked to our Automation Peeps and they may have 2 of these in an old demo unit.  Give them a week or two to dig through the boneyard of demos we have at district

Batteries out of Old UPS for power racing - Talked to our Datacom People and their eyes lit up. They do have something at our Cincinnati branch, but again give them a week or two to check on it.

New Service / Loadcenter / Panel to upgrade the shop - Talked to our Eaton supplier about donations or scrapping our old stuff out.  We are going to have beers this weekend and we will figure something out.

Extra PC for the sweet Oculus Rift - This is now sitting in my car, ready for use by LVL1 peeps.  Ill try to swing it by for the purge.

I am looking to apply for the makership, but have a very specific idea of what to do with the stipend.  I noticed on the tour we dont really have an way to form plastic, such as pvc or abs.  I was thinking of making a vacauum form machine for the group.  Would this be useful?  I have attached a link if no one know what it is.  I built a smaller simpler version for my garage and think it would be very handy to have in the shop.  Would people use this?

I attached my contact information for my professional side as well.  I can defiantly work with the group on special buys and saving money.  Im working with my company to see what we can do as far as donations, im sure they can work something out to help the group. To give a quick blurb about my company Wesco is a 8 billion dollar electrical distribution company with a 1 billion dollar data/communications side of the company.  If somebody needs something, we can usually get it.  End of my self promotion but I think I can help bring a lot to the group.  Anyone have any questions shoot me an email on either email address.

Hey Matt,

If you need someone to bring something down from your Cincinnati branch I go back and forth to Louisville about twice a month.  I'd be glad to shuttle something down for LVL1.

Gary, I believe, made some sort of vacuum-former rig that is on the shelves next to the big laser. maybe find him and ask about how it works? it might be a niche that is already filled at the space.

I think I saw a small one on one of the user shelves… And at some point, a very small one was assembled to assist forming all of the… bump/domes… on the body of a Darlec. Not sure if it is the same one (Somewhere in the 12”x12”ish range iirc)

IF a larger one existed at the space (4’x4’ or larger), I would probably end up standing in front of it a LOT, inserting sheet after sheet into it, creating my own Clone/Storm Trooper armor 😊
