Display and even SELL your projects at upcoming events!
If you're proud of the stuff you make and want to show it off to the public - maybe even sell it for extra cash - MakeHartford will be hosting a Vendor's Booth at upcoming events in September. We need people to help staff the tables, and you can even display your stuff!
Envisionfest Hartford: Saturday, Sept 17th
New Britain Museum of American Art Pop Up Market: Saturday, Sept 24
People are needed to staff the booth (for at least two hours) and talk to people about MakeHartford on both dates. Schedules will be available for signup through the events on our Facebook page.
If you would like to sell any items, talk to Margo Lynn at marg...@makehartford.com about the specifications. People who staff the booth and sell items are asked to donate 5% of the sales to MakeHartford; people who just provide items for sale are asked for 10% of the sales price. If you want to demonstrate the art or craft while you staff the booth, that's fine, just let Margo know.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Hackathon!
Over 100 hackers at Goodwin College in East Hartford learning how to program the new Amazon Echo. The Amazon Echo is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more—instantly. All you have to do is ask.

Help fund MakeHartford by getting your donation matched - but time's running out!
This is the second year MakeHartford is participating in the Birdies For Charity event, part of the Travelers PGA Golf Championship. This event starts August 1st, but you can still pledge now (push red "make a pledge button," fill out your contact info, and then you can choose MakeHartford from the dropdown list of charities), and every dollar helps us grow into the new space. These donations are matched $2:1, giving your donation double the impact!
You can either pledge a flat rate, or a certain amount per birdie (one penny per birdie will result in about $85, for example). Every dollar helps us grow, so this is a great opportunity to show your support for our space and encourage some of the area’s largest corporate sponsors to help us build out the constantly improving MakeHartford.

Sunday Salons returning in October
We'll be resuming a number of our groups once fall begins and people are more interested in being outside. To make it easy to remember, most will be part of Sunday Salons - an activity every Sunday, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M, from October to April. Even if you're not interested in the specific activity, the space will be open during that time as additional Open Hours.
- 1st Sunday of the month: Games (nothing electronic)
- 2nd Sunday: Fixers’ Co-Op
- 3rd Sunday: String Thing
- 4th Sunday: Maker Movies
- 5th Sunday (when occurring): Book Club
If you have something you'd like to play, learn, or teach during one of the salons, contact Margo Lynn at marg...@makehartford.com.
Book Club: Several people have talked about a book club to discuss an interesting book, whether classic or something recent. If you'd like to lead a discussion, or if you’d like to suggest a book for the group to read and discuss, let us know. The Book Club will meet as a Sunday Salon on the fifth Sunday of any month with five Sundays, so the next one is on October 29th. We’d like to announce the book two months in advance to give people time to obtain and read a copy, so let us know!
