Property Partner is a crowdfunding platform that makes it possible for anyone to invest in residential property at the click of a button. Investors can buy shares in individual properties or residential blocks, for as little or as much as they like. Property Partner finds the tenants and professionally manages the properties. About the role
As the Lead Scala Backend Engineer you will report directly to our CTO and you will be responsible for leading and growing the back-end team.
Your role will entail hands-on development, leading the backend teams’day-2-day work, involvement in sprint planning and execution, mentoring junior backend developers, developing the back-end architecture, designing APIs, and developing the overall architecture together with the CTO and the lead frontend engineer.
You will have managerial responsibility for a small team to start with, but we expect this to grow with the business. You should be used to working in cross functional teams and collaborating with Product, Design and Front-End disciplines. We are working with SCRUM so it would be good if you'd worked in this way previously.
This role is going to be challenging as technology sits at the core of our product. You'll need to be innovative with your solutions to help us realise our dream of being the largest residential property exchange. As we scale we expect there to be more technical challenges and we hope that you will find this an exciting prospect.

Experienced in leading teams, and coaching less experienced colleagues
Previous experience in a lead engineering role with architectural influence
7+ years experience in software engineering, of which the majority was hands-on core/backend development.
3+ years' experience with functional & reactive Scala development
Experience with Typesafe Stack, Akka & the Play Framework
Experience with micro services architecture
Designed and implemented REST/JSON APIs
Experience with AWS and familiar with AWS infrastructure components
Experience with SCRUM
Experience with Peer-2-peer programming & reviewing
Full Stack Development experience desirable
