The first proper data science team this first tier, global London bank has ever had is hiring a data scientist.
We look inside the bank for opportunities of using machine learning and the power of big data to save or make money. Each project is like small startup where we start from an idea or an opportunity we spot ourselves or not, we sell, envision, analyse, build, test and deliver. All these in an agile way.
We deliver every week.
The main focus is on delivery and frequently shipping our products. We don't maintain it for ever. We release production ready prototypes and then we move to the next project.
Our team is formed of senior data scientists that use machine learning to incrementally deliver value to our clients (internally every project has its own clients).
Because we are so focused on delivery, the foundation of our team is collaboration and agile practices.
Whatever clever solution any of us is inventing, she should be able to defend it in front of the team. We decompose it until we all understand it and then we build it again together.
Scala, Spark and TDD allow us to ship our art. Numbers are beautiful only when they are correct. We treasure Scala. When in need we also use Java, Python, R or whatever language or library gets the job done. Because we always deliver.
We love and we ship only proper science. We do science and art because everything is facing scrutiny, we have tested it and the performance is outstanding.
We do have an awesome manager but we represent ourselves and our own projects. We can talk with our project's stakeholders and make sure our art is making a difference. TODAY !

- be a senior software engineer that masters OOP, algorithms and data structures;
- be a data scientists that has released to production machine learning algorithms;
- be an engineer that has dealt with big data problems for at least a couple of years;
- has released to production TDD written Scala code;
- goes without saying that you are fluent on Unix systems, GIT, MapReduce ± Spark, Gitflow;
- program in python, java whenever its needed;
- you are senior enough to know well at least two programming languages with the machine learning libraries existing in them.
We deliver daily using Macs and targeting unix servers.
