Senior Data Engineer - Scala - London

As a Senior Data Engineer your primary role will be to design and implement machine learning algorithms while working closely with the data science team. You will be solution-focussed, proactive and have the drive and ability to deliver high quality outputs to tight timeframes.

Your duties will include but won’t be limited to:

• Working closely with data scientists to design and implement machine learning algorithms
• Implementing data pipelines in Spark
• Contributing to the design and overall architecture of the system
• Designing and implementing APIs
• Mentoring and assisting more junior members of the team

Skills and qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science / Engineering or a related field
• Experience with Spark is essential as is working with additional big data technologies
• Proficiency with backend stack technologies: Scala, Java, Async API, Redis, Solr is essential
• Familiarity with cloud based environments, such as AWS and associated technologies (AWS
• Lambdas, RDS, EMR) is highly beneficial
• More than 5 years’ experience working in a commercial environment
• Experience in working within the IT / financial sector and in a startup environment would be particularly beneficial
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology
