There is now a system in place for warning IRC and the space when
things have been in the sink too long. If the traffic light now
changes its because the washing up hasnt been done :)
It also shouts in IRC for maximum annoyance

Please dont disconnect the camera above the sink, it only points
downward and doesnt capture peoples faces. Also dont unplug the power
to the Beaglebone on top of the cupboard, unclean FS dismounts are bad!

Works a treat, well done Tom.

Sadly, when someone in the space is being a scumbag, it's IRC that
gets most of the nagging.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but brings out the difficulty of
getting in touch with people in the space when they're busy with
stuff.

Well done indeed - very neat bit of work :-)

Perhaps it'd be worth prodding the board as well as IRC?

I've been converting that 110v orange warning light to UK mains if that
could be useful?

very likely, however we did try with a "Troll plate" last night (a
circular piece of paper) and it didnt spot it

I'll tone down the IRC warnings once I remember the IP of the
server :)

Not any more. Since it was going in the bin during the Multi-mill move,
I took it home and modified the integral gearbox to accept the motor
portion from a similar 240v sync motor I had sitting about.
I'm just trying to work out how best to secure the motor in place now
though, since the original way was spot-welds that had to be
drilled-out. Leaving re-welding as a last resort since my arc welder's
not that delicate.

Have it shout at the board above lovelace at intervals?
its not particulalry invasive but its a more 'in-space' solution,
I guess you could combine it with a nice loud air horn and a solenoid
trigger.

just an idea :)

well i have a methane sensor that I wanted to hook up to the traffic

You only have to ask for access[1].  The limited access is to put a brake on people breaking it.

I was actually planning to add a "do the washing up" and "somebody to IRC" messages last night, but couldn't find your script.

I'd like to rewrite glados and host it properly on another machine.
Perhaps using it as a "space automation server" for any physical
things in the space

And is there any chance of monitoring the dishwasher as well?

I dumped a load of dishes in the sink, as the dishwasher was partway
through a load, then the irc starts getting spammed by the sinkbot.

Monitoring the dishwasher would let people know whether anything is
being done about the dishes...

Please don't do this. It's fine to leave dishes until the dishwasher is free, but please leave them somewhere other than the sink so people who want to wash their own dishes can.

Russ: can we get a second little dishwasher to stack on the current

you live out of one and store dirty stuff in the other

Seconded. The sink isn't a dirty store, it's for washing stuff and
filling the kettle.

If you've just got a couple of mugs, wash them. It doesn't take a minute.

If you're being a nice person and cleaning up the mugs left everywhere
else by lazy people, just check that the washer's free before you
start.

I use my sink at home for work-in-progress. It's fine there. But it
doesn't work when other people need to use it.
