Unless someone knows of a better place to buy from, I'm looking to order some Atmel chips from Farnell.

The two chips that I have settled on (they're the best, I think, for size and money) are:-
ATMEGA328P-PU (The chip in an arduino board) @£3.02/£1.63 http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=1715487
ATTINY85-20PU (For the minification of arduino circuits) @£1.23/88p/60p http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=1455162

Price breaks are 1/10/25. If we order enough to reach them, we can save around 50%.

I want one atmega and two attinys.

Hi,

I'll have two of each too.

You may need to start a wiki page.

I'll have 5 x attiny85

If you get enough interest, it may be worth comparing Mouser prices.

Also interested in some SOIC attinys

I recently placed an order from Digi-key. I needed 10 ATTiny85s, but the free shipping threshold and price breaks were such that it was the same price to order 25. If you or someone else wants a few of the extras, I'm happy to let them go for the marginal cost @25.

Nick's ATTINY85s are surface mount - so I'm happy to take some of those, if anyone else wants some then speak up.

As per Ciarán's suggestion, I have made a wiki page for this order: http://wiki.london.hackspace.org.uk/view/User:930913/Atmel_order

Please check that I have transferred the numbers correctly.

That's what I'm currently considering holding out for. The problem is cash flow, whatwith being a student and all.
Cash in hand would probably be the easiest payment, though I could possibly stretch to other means, such as paypal if my dad lets me use his, and costs were swallowed by the sending party.

Hi 930913
When will you close the order taking and how would you like to collect the payments (maybe Paypal)? I will be in the "Not Just Arduino" group meeting on Monday evening (19/11/2012) and I will tell other guys about this order .Who know there might some more people interested in ordering Atmel ICs.

Hi,

I'd struggle to get the cash to you before hand, so paypal would be
preferable. I'd happily cover the costs of the paypal transaction too.

Cheers,

I anybody else interested in the attiny861a, its $2.22 ?  Has a lot more pins, and a slightly better ADC than the 85.

Also I notice the AVRISP-mk2 is now only £26.47... down from more than 100 - because there is a newer and better guy out I guess.

Still hugely expensive when you can make one from a minimus for £3

Do you know if the clone support the debugging capabilities via JTAG and debugWire?

Hi guys
I don't mind putting the order if 930913 has problem collecting money in PP  as long as money is collected in advance by PP or other means like cash or bacs.

Hi Dave
The ATTINY85-20PU is £0.60 for 25 or more orders whereas ATTINY861A-PU is £2.22/ £1.99/  £1.82 /£1.67 for orders over 1/5/10/25 and also larger footprint due to additional gpio pins. Power Supply Voltage Range (1.8V to 5.5V)  is better in ATTINY861A-PU than  ATTINY85-20PU (2.7V to 5.5V)  .

Hi N,

I agree that the attiny85 is really cheap and nice :). i have one on a breadboard now, with VCC, GND, RESET, thermoCoupleHighPin, thermoCoupleLowPin, controlPin,  serialOutPin, serialInPin; all pins used.
But I would like a phaseDetectPin also :(.

And to program the attiny85, I have to rewire three pins so the arduino-ISP can drive the SPI pins.

So four more IOs would be nice. I thought about the attiny84a - which is a 14pin dip - almost perfect.

But for playing on a breadboard, a few more pins dont hurt, and the bigger gain on the ADC is nice.

So I suggested the more flexible attiny861a :).

Anyway, I would like two attiny861a - even at that high unit price - *grin*

I did an order from Mouser for Edinburgh hacklab for Atmega328-PU and
ATTiny85s about an month ago. They were way cheaper than Farnell. Free
shipping over £50, takes about 3 or 4 days to arrive. Be sure to
choose FedEx as a shipper as you pay the VAT at time of order no
messing about having to pay at time of delivery and "handling charges"

Hi,

This seems to have gone quiet?

If this is still an issue I suggest we take up N. Sahin's offer to let
him put the order in.

Paddy told me that they've just arrived. When I confirm this later today, I'll post arrangements.

Hi,

Well that's good news! I'm actually planning on visiting tonight for a
change, so if you are around I can hand you the cash and pick up the
chips. I'll probably be around from 6pm to 8pm.

The tracking says it was signed for by a "Duncan", which does help Paddy's alibi that he collected the post. I'll be in as soon as I finish my people stabbing lesson, hopefully before 1930.
If anybody who ordered wants to collect and pay tonight, I'm wearing a purple hoodie.

I figured you would be in then, so I'm trying to keep that time free (also because I want to attend NJA.)
