You currently have active storage requests for both a dalek and a tardis. As a former candidate for a trustee position you obviously know that the purpose of a storage request is to allow work in progress to remain on the premises between opportunities to work on it. Can you explain please why you need to store a third project before completing the existing ones to free up space and perhaps give an update on the actual progress of those, otherwise a cynic might question whether you're simply using the space as free storage.

Maybe he's waiting on parts for #1 and #2, and is ttherefore working on #3?
Anyway, is there a stipulation against multiple requests, other than they still have to be aapproved as usual?

As the storage date starts today, I assume that, like the tardis, this has already been brought in to the space without the storage request being discussed and approved. There are unanswered questions on the tardis storage request, so my inclination is to reject this one until the other request(s) have been dealt with correctly, although, given the lack of response to the tardis thread, I suspect that Brian is either not following the mailing list, or worse, is burying his head and hoping to keep quiet until he removes the items.

If everybody just brought large items into the space without seeking approval for their storage requests, nobody would be able to get through the door.

Never mind parts, he's still waiting for approval on the tardis storage request, despite already taking up a large amount of space in the classroom

And also the Dalek city arches. And in every single case the the items
have been brought into the space before the request is approved (or
even made, in most cases).

I believe that this is what is known as taking the piss.

The parts for #1 were stated as having already been ordered when it
arrived 3 months ago. It is more than a little implausible that they
haven't arrived ages ago.

As for #2, there has been no mention of any parts, or even any work
being done, it is merely free storage.

When I spoke to him on Tuesday he was actively working on the Tardis during the conversation.
From what I understand he's having some parts custom-milled for the Dalek - it's not that he brought it into the space on day 1, having parts ordered, and is still waiting on them. It's an ongoing project which, if I recall correctly, was noted as being a good show-piece for the space, generating interest on open days.

I'll agree that bringing the Tardis into the space pre-storage request is taking the piss a bit - the least he could have done was game the system legally by opening a short-term request "while the long-term request is being discussed" /s
But since this thread is not about the Tardis, I'd like to point out that the mould requested here is about the size of a medium-sized moving box and therefore (especially given its location) is unlikely to be in the way. (The Tardis being a different matter on that subject).

Brian is one of the few members of the hackspace who actually maintains and actively helps promote it, and as such I suggest we cut him a bit of slack on this storage request. (Not on the Tardis.)

Can I, yet again, suggest that we hear the boiler room story first?

I’m still waiting for an explanation, both here in in the Director’s IRC channel, of the circumstances requiring Brian to have a key cut for him, and for the Trustees (bar one who allegedly authorised it) to not be told.

May I also point out that we’ve had the ‘cut some slack because they help out’ discussion many times before, and rejected it every time. Everyone is expected to.

Paddy

He has his own private key for the boiler room?
