Hello

I am looking for an easy way to help my friends that I am getting into ubuntu.

I found this which runs xtightvncviewer in listening mode and should be able to test it tonight. See below.

But I thought I would ask the group if anyone has had any luck with an easy to use ubuntu vnc setup.
In a perfect world it would be ideal to have something like Teamviewer for windoze but pretty sure
nothing like that exists. Next to zero config is necessary on their end.

Cheers,

Matt

apt-get install xtightvncviewer

xtightvncviewer -encodings "hextile copyrect" -listen

Gnome has a VNC server built-in called "vino", but the preference pane is hidden by default. You can edit the applications menu and enable "Remote Desktop" under "Preferences", or manually run `vino-preferences`

There you can set whether user confirmation is required, password for access, and even UPNP passthrough if their router supports it.
