I agree. ZmiFanva is a great idea, but it skips on the great opportunities Lojban has: defined prepositions, and kind-of-a fill-in-the-blanks approach.
We can have (or generate, we already have the data needed) definitions like (here for «fanva»):
translate: [translator] x1 * [translated text] x2 from[/source language] x3 to[/target language] x4 as[/result] x5
(The asterisk stands for the verb.)
Then, all of 'I translate this', 'I translate to Lojban', 'English is the source language' and 'He translates with this result' could be easily fit into the patterns above.
