Hi,
I wanted to run this idea by you guys.. see if it makes sense and if anyone has any ideas or wants to participate.
The use case is where a person (me) has multiple servers in their house, wants to encrypt servers that don't support https, and avoid port forwarding numbers.
1. User gets a domain name and maps *.
thedomain.com to the router.
2. User sets up Proxy Server, listing servers they want to access remotely.
3. Port forwarding is set for 80 & 443 to proxy
Now users enter
hostname.thedomain.com in the browser. Identity is checked. Redirect to
https://hostname.thedomain.com/ So far, it works great so far, except some https servers aren't so happy with the man in the middle.
A simple welcome page, admin page, and credential checking system would be needed to round out the experience.
I have this working with squid, and I'm just starting to port it to LittleProxy. Not totally sure how to establish and cache the serverToProxyResponse communication. So I may have a few questions if I can't figure it out.
Looking forward to making progress with LittleProxy!
