In news items, the display of the "From" field is messed up if it contains
Latin-1-specific characters:
* In the message list, the name is cut off before the first occurence of a
non-ascii character.
* In the message display (quick view or separate window), the entire name is
missing, as well as the "<" in front of the email address.

This patch fixes the problem at least temporarily. It seems everything
must be converted to UTF-8 for GTK2, and (as the console messages
indicate) this conversion is not finished yet. So I didn't try to find a
good fix for the problem, but instead I just did what was necessary to
fix this specific issue.
Anyway, please apply. It's a pretty bad issue, especially when replying
to news items. Actually, it almost turns sylpheed-gtk2 into another one
of those broken newsreaders.
