Are linux-sunxi developers currently work (or will be working in future)
with Allwinner A31 kernel sources? As I see from group messages, only
A20 currently taken into account.

Personally, I only have A20 hardware and don't intend to do any work for
A31. For me personally, It is more of a A31 boycot due to the PowerVR
they used.

Other developers will probably bring some things over. As always,
patches welcome.

Not a good news... But expected.
Currently I'm using Linux on Mele A1000G (with A10 and 1GB RAM). I'm
planning to buy A31-based STB in future, as more powerful then A20-based
devices. But without Linux support this doesn't make sense.

(Smiling sadly) I'm not an experienced developer to single-handedly
embed into Linux kernel support for the whole SoC.
For now I'll walking on the aliexpress.com, see what there is of the
RK3188-based devices :-(

I am working on the A31. Currently I'm trying to merge the allwinner
code into the 3.4 community kernel but I haven't put my code up yet as
no one else seemed to be trying to work with it.

I saw that RK3188 announcement on CNX, the other good news is it has a
Mali GPU.

Exscellent!

Not very many have A31 devices to work on at the moment.

I am working on A31 too. Currently focus on port xen to A31. for fully supported by xen-arm. it will need a lastest kernel, at least support device tree. and it also need a upstream u-boot which would be easy switch arm into Non-Security Hyper Mode in u-boot.
is it in anyone's todo list? i will appreciate that.

are u using the u-boot with a bootable sdcard?
if so, does the u-boot need spl? i do not see something like sunxi-spl in allwinner released code.
thanks your help.

Hi Bamvor,
It's on mine for the mainline kernel part.

I've been struggling with creating a bootable SD card though, so I've
not been able to test the current patches I had already.

I haven't been able to use an SD card.  The A31 has a different boot setup that makes it difficult and my test of the allwinner provided SD boot0/1 hasn't been successful.

I am doing all my testing directly on internal flash.

yes. but u could make a bootable sd card through allwinner MP tools.  i have a MP tools for Mele M9 quadcore. maybe it works for u.

There is some slow progress, but nothing revolutionary is to be
expected. It's not a main focus of development.

is there new roms for this device (cs868) i have not seen anything for the last year or so and i still cannot get past the boot screen when using the 4.2 firmware

'roms' is something this list doesn't really do. We are mostly about the
kernel layer of the SoC. That said, no, due to the nature of the A31
(PowerVR) it's not something we actively work on.

I had a similar result with my attempt to build 4.2 for the PengPod1040.

It works fine on the eval board with a debug port. Since I get no response on the tablet where I don't have access to the debug port, I haven't been able to debug it.
