Reset
Restore
Restart
Reboot

1) Yes, we should use እንደገና or ዳግም whenever there is 'Re-' unless the context justifies otherwise.

2) Reset and Restore have actually different meanings, and the translations reflect this. Reset is to restore something to its original state - መጀመሪያ ላይ ወደነበረበት ሁኔታ መመለስ፣ በተለይ የተቀየሩ ቅንብሮች ወዘተ. Restore, in ICT, is usually used with regards to location; for eg. 'restore the deleted file'. Of course, sometimes the way the context is written may render Restore similar to Reset. However, unless we come across such instances we should keep in mind these differences.

3) I actually have misgivings for the different translations given to Restart and Reboot. Generally, Reboot maybe more specific than Restart, but the way it renders in Amharic is such that you can use both ዳግም ማስነሳት & ዳግም ማስጀመር for both terms. Not only that, Reset and Restart now have similar meanings (ዳግም and እንደገና are the same).

Of all these I think Reset's translation is the least effective. Right now I'm not inclined to tinker with them, but I feel this confusion should be cleared up.

Best regards,
Eyob

Thanks again!!

1) Fine to use  እንደገና።   I think it takes too much not to use እንደገና if one prefer to use እንደገና over ዳግም።

2) Exactly but as for now, I do not think the translation of Reset does actually reflect the meaning behind it. If one says Reset = ዳግም አስጀምር does not reflect for ex to fabric default or as you stated to its original state. In this case, it misleads.

3) I think the translation for Restart and Reboot are fine here. May be Reboot  =   እንደገና ለኩስ  but that is ok as is. My only problem is wanting to use እንደገና over ዳግም to clear up and have a good routine and usage. //FT
