Dear group members,

I would like to request if there are any readers here who are using a configuration management tool?  If so which ones?

I myself am using Puppet (https://puppetlabs.com/learn).  It's software that you can use to manage the configuration of your GNU/Linux computers.  It also has support for Windows (although still small).  At Jimma University we are using to to manage several servers and over 100 Ubuntu workstations in the computer labs.

I have just started the Ethiopian Puppet User Group.  I hope you don't mind that I mention it here.  I invite you to join the Meetup group if you are interested in it.  I'm planning to organize a meeting when I come to Ethiopia next April.  My plan is to organize it in Jimma, and if I have time I will hold one in Addis.

You can find our meetup page here: http://www.meetup.com/Ethiopia-Puppet-User-Group

If you want to have an idea what puppet is see e.g.:

Hello,

Thanks for the information about Puppet. I do not use Puppet as I do not have something to automate tasks or manage Linux configuration.
On the other hand it is really nice to hear Linux/Ubuntu is being used in Ethiopia Jimma. //FT

Best regards
