Hi libuvers

With little excitement and lot of work to work on, I am happy to inform about the
libuv-ssl

it is sure that libuv-ssl need lot of improvement especially as I started very recently on libuv.
and I am sure that together, we can make it better.

Please feel free to suggest/criticise/contribute.

and sorry to make this place dirty with this mail, which is unrelated to libuv.

Given that SSL is deprecated, may I suggest naming it libuv-tls?

Thanks Inaki for the suggestion.

Initially, I also ponder upon the naming and then went ahead as SSL as it is more widely known or people still continue
the deprecated lingua, whatever.

No objection, Should we wait if any other person has any other thought on the name

Hi,

Thanks for making this! I'm sure it will benefit others :-) This is the
kind of thing I had in mind for libuv-extras
(https://github.com/libuv/libuv-extras) would you like to add it there?

If so, please send a PR and we can look over it, get it in shape and
land it there.

Cheers,

Hi Saul
That would be great.
As the work on client and DTLS will be in motion. I will be needing the write access.

So do we have some time ? If so then, I can continue working on it on the current repo until the pending work is completed.
or Will it be possible to have write access to libuv-extras.

By the way, as Inaki suggested, which name SSL or TLS do you think we should go with.

I really don't know how we're going to manage that. For now, continue
your work and once ready for review, ping me!

The standard is TLS, so I'd go with uv_tls_t.

Hi All,
Have changed the name to reflect tls.

Sagul

libuv-tls has a pre release now which was done for review/improvement by libuv experts.

and yes, it can be improved a lot as it currently only tries to do minimal things wrapping
libuv APIs. libuvers can shatter it and frame it for good again.

The code is not optimal as I am neither a openSSL pro nor seasoned libuser.

Let us make it better :)

This is awesome. I was looking for a library to add SSL support for my project https://github.com/raksoras/luaw which already uses libuv. This library will be perfect for that. I'll be in touch :)

Hi all
Libuv-tls is ready for first round of review.
@ Sagul
Should I dump the code in libuv-extras?

Hi Kai
Please have a look at https://github.com/deleisha/evt-tls .
evt-tls is the one where current and future development will take place.

evt is designed to be flexible which can be integrated with any async system but it has many
work to be done on evt also.
Contribution in any form is welcome
