BN mod exp with 3072 bit numbers

I really like this project and want to give it a go on a 32 bit MIPS, using tomcrypt with tomsfastmath.

But do I understand correctly that it is not possible to do 3072 bit calculations (eg mod exp) on a 32 bit core?

E.g TFM_MUL64 would be 2048 bits on a 32 bit core?

If I do not understand it correctly, it would be very nice to hear as well :-)
