inconsistent contact between MR3040 and flash drive

I am using an MR3040 LibraryBox with a SanDisk 128GB Cruzer Fit 3.0 flash drive. I recently noticed that sometimes after removing the drive and reinserting it that it doesnꞌt always make a good connection, even though it feels like it fits pretty snugly. Is there something I should clean on the unit or the flash drive, or might the unit or the flash drive be failing?

I have never seen this, but it sounds like maybe either the drive or the router have corrosion or something on the USB contact pads? That's the thing I would check first....they can be cleaned with soft cloth.
