Hi,

We are having trouble installing libpsl from https://github.com/rockdaboot/libpsl .

make check passes all 5 tests. However, doing 'psl --help' gives the following error message:

psl: error while loading shared libraries: libpsl.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

We tried installing on ubuntu 14.04 and ubuntu 16.04 and got the same above message both times. How can we fix this?

So are you running the binary from the local build or did you actually
run install?

Forgot to run ldconfig? Also check if the lib actually installed.

Both contain libpsl. Usually the best way is to build a new package with
your desired version. openSUSE both offers current versions and an
accessible package build system for such tasks.

the easiest way to install on ubuntu is just "apt install psl" -- the
available versions are:

0 dkg@alice:~$ rmadison -u ubuntu psl
psl | 0.5.1-1 | vivid/universe | amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, powerpc, ppc64el
psl | 0.11.0-2 | xenial/universe | amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x
psl | 0.14.0-1 | yakkety/universe | amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, powerpc, ppc64el, s390x
psl | 0.17.0-4 | zesty/universe | amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, s390x
psl | 0.17.0-4 | artful/universe | amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, s390x
0 dkg@alice:~$

is there a reason that you're not just using the distro-provided
packages?
