Problems with Facebook events' visibility?

Hi, all

As I understand, Since the FB group reached 250 members (about 6 months ago) admins can no longer invite the entire groups to events but only their friends.

One might think this isn't a big deal because people should see the event on their wall. I have only two data-points against this: the lower attendance for game nights (arguably, the attendance for the other evenings is a counterpoint, has there been a decline here too? I'm not sure), and I happened to meet someone who was certain we stopped all activities.

The common workaround is to copy old events which supposedly copies the invitees. this any new misses new members.

other options I can think of off the cuff:

1) admins can try and "friend" as many members as possible

2) we can all make a habit of sharing all events (but this misses exactly the people who are not already friends with most of the regulars)

3) I suppose we should at least try to make sure to remember to use the copy-event trick...

Should I post this to FB instead? I seem to feel this is a better place for meta but I'm not sure why.

Additional explanation: I can't be the only person who never uses FB and only sees an FB event if I'm personally invited because then I get an email.

Good catch. 

So yes, let's share on our timelines and copy old events.

And can we reduce the membership below 250? Not sure if that is feasible or reasonable.

Ha. This is very annoying.

People who don't use FB: I don't see a problem here since we post the events to this group also, and you can subscribe to the group.

Meta-discussions: I actually think we *should* have them on FB, possibly after dropping a link here. I'm pretty sure some people read FB and don't read the group.
