Hi everyone,
I’d like to encourage all the members of the LessWrong Bratislava group to apply for one of the upcoming CFAR (Center for Applied Rationality) workshops being held in England in November.
In case you haven’t heard of CFAR, CFAR was founded to develop the art of rationality and spread it throughout the world in an attempt to create a community of effective, truth-seekers intent on doing good in the world. CFAR runs 4 day intense workshops which aim to teach and develop core rationality skills that are instantly applicable to everyday life. The fully immersive environment allows plenty of time to practice apply the techniques to real life issues with a focus on figuring out the best path to your goals and developing habits of mind that allow you to get there much more effectively. I attended a CFAR workshop in February this year and found it an incredibly valuable experience, so much so that I’m volunteering with CFAR during the workshops in an attempt to extract yet more value from the workshop environment.
If you want to get a quick overview of what a workshop is like, watch this video from the most recent workshop

If you’re at all interested, I suggest filling out this quick form http://rationality.org/apply/ (~1 minute) which will get you an interview with Kenzi, one of the CFAR instructors, she can answer any questions you might have about CFAR, the workshop and whether it is a good fit for you. The full price of the workshop is $3900 USD (around 3000 euros) which includes 5 nights’ accommodation, all meals and a 6 week follow-up program designed to help keep you on track after the workshop. Keep in mind that we offer financial aid based on a combination of genuine need and the ability to create good in the world. Financial constraints are occasionally a good reason not to attend a workshop, but they should never be a reason not to apply. There are plenty of cheap flights from Bratislava to London, and the England workshops are being held in e beautiful old manor house (rather than a hotel in Berkeley) making now an ideal time to attend if you’ve ever considered it in the past.
If anyone has any questions about what a CFAR workshop is like, please just apply, applying online isn't a commitment to attending, merely an expression of interest, worst case scenario you lose 15 minutes and you gain a whole bunch of information!
I'm excited to meet all of those who attend in a couple of weeks!
