Imo, it's time for an official release.  There has been lots of significant work since the Ashland sprint, and I think it's time to share it with the wider world.

Before the release #509: console gui: Ctrl-F problems should be fixed. Not sure how long that will take, but it's clearly the highest priority item.

Any comments?

I have been working on #510: Improve how Leo handles settings. As a result, #327: Create a way to unbind bindings in leoSettings.leo will have to be redone.  It turns out that trying to unbind bindings in k.registerCommand was a bad idea.

The bindlate branch contains this work. I'll merge this code into master asap: it will be important to test this code thoroughly before releasing 5.6b1.  Expect that to happen in about a week at the very earliest.

I'm still dithering about #509.  As I have just posted in the "Late Bindings" thread, I'll delay significant work on bindings until after Leo 5.6 final.  Expect 5.6b1 later this week.

I have been overwhelmed by distractions last week. I expect to release 5.6b1 in a day or so.

The 5.6b1.exe installer works fine.Note that Leo will not start unless the target is manually changed from pythonw.exe to python.exe
See issue 541

Thanks for this reminder.  I just verified that it is still a problem.

It appears a fix is possible, as discussed in #541.  I'll do this next.

Fixed at a8e9fcf per the stack overflow page. It's even possible to run all the unit tests, with stdout redirected to the temp file.
