Hi Edward,

If you have an unsaved file and leave Leo via Leo File>Exit you get the pop-up message, for example:
[ Save changes to N:/leo/aTest1.leo before quitting? ] select Yes

This message appears in the log file:
[snip]
reading settings in N:\leo\aTest1.leo
LeoQtLog.log.put fails 'saved: aTest1.leo'
[end]

Open the file and it has NOT been saved, just as the log file suggests.

Regards
Lewis

Thanks for this.  I can see how this might happen. I'll attempt a fix today.

I see the log failure message, but I have not been able to lose data in several tests.

Where did the lost data happen.  In the outline itself? In an @file tree? In an @clean tree?

I definitely observed my file losing data and was very careful about double checking before reporting it to you. However despite repeated attempts I have not been able to repeat the loss of data.
After failing to repeat the problem on a new file, my first reaction was that the failure to save only occurred with pre-existing files.
However in all subsequent attempts using File>Exit 'Yes' the files have saved correctly. And in all cases I still see the 'LeoQtLog.log.put fails' log message.

The lost data was plain body text. The files were not @file or @clean.
I was simply trying out using detached windows as discussed earlier

Edward,

After reading the log file message carefully 'LeoQtLog.log.put fails' I understand it's a log failure and not a save failure.
I think I have to consider maybe leo did save my file, and maybe you should consider my report a log failure only. And change the issue title ;)

Lewis
