Due to overwhelming popular request - here are some possible solutions to power pilot issues.  Note that these are different than the error codes listed in the Power Pilot User's manual - you should check the power pilot manual that came with your unit before checking these alternative error codes.

Depending on your firmware version, the following error codes will help you with Power Pilot troubleshooting.  To check your firmware version press and hold HR/KCAL for a few seconds.  The version is listed in the lower right quadrant of the screen. Please note that the most current firmware version is 63.  If you have a problem that is not listed or is not corrected by one of the solutions listed here or in the current power pilot users manual please reply to this discussion post with your issue and your firmware version.  Similarly, if you have any success we would appreciate it if you could post your solutions as well.  Thanks!

Error Code 01 - USBConnect Failure

Indicates that the Power Pilot is having difficulty connecting to the USB flash drive to transfer data.

  • Ensure that the USB flash drive is fully inserted into the USB slot.
  • Check that the USB flash drive functions properly when inserted into a computer.
  • Try a different USB flash drive or format your existing flash drive to FAT32.
  • Try changing your power pilot batteries - even thought the unit is on, low battery can cause the file transfer to stall out.

Error Code 02 – USBFull Failure
Indicates that there are 99 .csv files with the same date prefix on the USB flash drive and the Power Pilot cannot write any more.

  • Insert the USB Flash Drive into your PC and open the folder titled PWRPILOT. This directory contains all the downloaded workout data. If there are 99 or more files from the same day present in this folder copy them to your PC if you would like to save them, then delete them from the flash drive and try again.
  • Remove all data from the USB flash drive and try again.
  • Try a different USB flash drive or format your existing flash drive to FAT32.

Error Code 03 – Open File Failure / File Delete Failure
Indicates that the Power Pilot cannot open a program file from the USB flash drive.

  • Check that the USB flash drive functions properly when inserted into a computer.
  • Check that the program file you are trying to load is a .fit file.
  • Try a different USB flash drive

Error Code 04 – Open File Address Failure
Indicates that your Power Pilot cannot read a file located in internal flash memory.

  • Power the unit off by pressing and holding the STOP button. Turn the unit back on by pressing any key and attempt to load the program again.
  • Delete the program file you are trying to load,  reload the program file from a USB Flash Drive and try again.
  • Repeat step 2 with a different USB Flash Drive.
  • Reset your Power Pilot.

Error Code 05 – USB Low Power Failure
Indicates that the unit cannot power the USB Flash Drive due to low battery power.

  • Replace the batteries in your Power Pilot and try again.

Error Code 06 - Cadence Sensor Pairing Failure
Indicates that the unit was unable to pair properly with the cadence sensor during the pairing process. Note that successful pairing with a cadence sensor is not necessay for Power Pilot function.

  • Make sure that the cadence sensor is active by pedaling for 20 seconds.
  • Ensure that you have installed the cadence sensor and magnet according to the owners manual
  • Change the battery in the cadence sensor.
  • If there is another ANT+ cadence sensor nearby it may be picking up that sensor instead of the power pilot sensor - this would not result in an error code but it may give a false positive pair indication.

Error Code 07 - Pulley Sensor Pairing Failure
Indicates that the unit was unable to pair properly with the pulley sensor during the pairing process.

  • Make sure that the pulley sensor is active by pedaling for 20 seconds.
  • Ensure that you have installed the pulley sensor according to the owners manual
  • Change the battery in the pulley sensor.
  • If there is another ANT+ pulley sensor nearby it may be picking up that sensor instead of the power pilot sensor - this would not result in an error code but it may give a false positive pair indication.

Error Code 08 - Pulley and Cadence Sensor Pairing Failure
Indicates that the unit was unable to pair with both the cadence and pulley sensors during the pairing process.

  • Make sure that the sensors are active by pedaling for 20 seconds.
  • Make sure that the pulley sensor is fully installed onto the Revolution and that the cadence sensor and the magnet are installed correctly to your bicycle.
  • Change the batteries in the sensors.

Error Code 09 – Calibration Failure

  • Error code not currently active.

Error Code 10 – Flash Error Failure
Indicates that your Power Pilot is having trouble accessing the internal flash memory.

  • Reset your Power Pilot by press and hold for 3 seconds -  /\& STOP & HR/KCAL buttons

Error Code 11 – Memory Empty Failure
Indicates that there is no data in the internal memory for the Power Pilot to copy to your USB Flash Drive.

  • Using the DAT menu (p. 37), check to make sure that there is a workout file present for download. If there is, try again. If not, perform a new workout period for at least a minute and try again.

Error Code 12 - .fit Full Failure
This error indicates that the allocated nine (9) spaces for program files are full.

  • Delete an unwanted program file (p. 49) and try again.
  • Remove all program files form your Power Pilot (p. 49) and try again.

Error Code 13 – Watch Download Failure

  • Error code not currently active.
  1. Compatibility
    1. DigiFit, Fisica

These products employ an external antenna that plugs into an IPOD/Iphone and receives the Ant+ signal for viewing using custom apps

  1. Garmin Head Units & Watches

How to pair with watches:

  • turn off GPS on FR60 or 310XT
  • enable detection of fitness equipment mode
  • proximity pair watch with console
  • begin workout and console will transmit data directly to watch
  • watch can then be used to transfer activity data to Garmin connect

 What is Fitness Equipment mode

Our Power Pilot is categorized as Fitness Equipment in the ANT+ Ecosystem.  This allows the product to be detected by other ANT+ devices that support fitness equipment mode so data can be transferred from one device to the other for recording activity data or uploading custom programs

  1. Combined Cadence and Speed Sensors

Console needs to pair with separate speed and cadence sensors.  Cadence signal from combined speed/cadence sensor is not supported at this time.

  1. Activity data
    1. How to download

USB

Programs can be downloaded to a USB by pressing and holding UP + STOP buttons to enter USB mode.  Downloaded programs will not be deleted from the console automatically.

Garmin Watch

Once the watch is paired with the Power Pilot, activity data automatically transfers to the watch.  At the end of the activity, data can be transferred from the watch to Garmin Connect or Garmin Training Center.

Activity data is stored as .csv files that can be viewed and or graphed in MS Excel.

WKO+/Trainingpeaks

Activity files (.csv) can be uploaded via Device Agent to WKO+ or Trainingpeaks online.

How do I interpret data?

Additional analysis can be performed using WKO+, Trainingpeaks or Golden Cheetah performance analysis programs

FIT programs: How do I get programs?

Programs can be purchased from Trainingpeaks that will upload and run on the Power Pilot

Can i create my own programs?

At this time, a desktop program creator does not exist.

How do i access/use programs?

Pilot comes with three (3) programs already installed.  User can access the programs by pressing and holding UP to enter PRO mode.  Additional programs can be uploaded via USB.  The console holds up to nine (9) programs.

Are the sensors and power pilot water Resistant?

The cadence sensor is ultrasonic welded and has an o-ring under the battery cover so yes - it is water resistant.

Can I use this cadence sensor outdoors?

Yes.

I have the most current software 63 installed on my power pilot.  I saved data on to my USB as a cvs file.  I attempted to upload it to training peaks and it says "an error occurred uploading the device."  How do I upload my data from the usb into training peaks.  I am using a macbook so wasn't sure if it was because I not using a PC.  Any ideas?
