In a bid to clear the hackspace we have moved the Hack pile to next door in a square area marked by masking tape. If you want something from it take it. If there is something you think we should keep then find a home for it.

A home meaning not a work surface/ patch of floor.

Hi, not a member but would be interested in what looks like a rack mounted server there if the power supply is still in it. I can collect. Cheers

Hi Stuart. If you can give it a week before coming for it to give more of the members chance to retrieve things we want to keep then I don't see a problem with you having it.

If you can get down to Sheffield I've got a 1U Dell box that came out
of a data centre 3 years ago fully working, hasn't been powered on
since but no reason why it shouldn't work.

Yours if you can collect it.

Hi Robin,

thanks for the offer but Sheffield a bit of a drive. I'm only really interested in the PSU, not bothered about server functionality!

Cheers

Hi Stuart,

I would very much doubt that a working psu would be on the to hack pile,
even in a dead server case, they're far too useful.

Cheers,

Just to point out that most "server" PSUs are not standard ATX supplies, so unless you've got a specific chassis to put it into, you might have issues.

I have a feeling he will be wanting it to convert into a stupid high amp 12V psu... IF thats the case i have an almost endless supply of HP ML350 G5 supplies that are rated at something stupid like 120A at 12V, and the pinout and instructions are on the net.

Thanks for the concern, advice and well guessed. I'm always interested in high current 12v supplies. Currently got a 60A Dell supply powering my LiPo battery charger. Pinout was easy to find online
