Hi
I downloaded Pennsylvania lidar data. It is as a las file. But it is in feet. I need to convert it to meters. I was told that las2las would do it.
The area I need is on the corner of four tiles. So, do I have to use lasmerge, then lastile followed by las2las?
Or can las2las do the whole process in one step?
I'm able to get the files into left hand corner. I filled out NAD83, NAVD88,Geoid03 in projection tab. Using the clip function on the bottom I can put a red rectangle around the area I want. I can view it. Choose where I want to copy it. But, I get stuck after clicking on RUN and START. I thought that using UTM as an output would do the trick. So far I failed.
The black screen tells me: could not find c:\program files\las2las\lastools\bin\file_list. 8884.txt
The number is always different with any attempt.
Could anybody please give me an advise? What am I missing?

Petr

Hello,

could you post a link (a link!!! please do not attach) to a small tile of example data? It will be easier to develop the correct command line for your case if you give us some sample data to test with.

Martin @rapidlasso

Hello,

I see two different instances of people asking to do this, but no resolution posted.

Is it as simple now as using las2las -target_feet or -target_meter to do the conversion?

Thanks,

Paul

Hello,

no. Just switching of units is not implemented. You can simply scale and then overwrite the old projection information with new projection information. But the -target_feet or -target_meter only work together with a reprojection.

One way would be to go from what you have now to '-target_longlat' or '-ecef' and then from long lat to a new projection that is in feet (or meter).

Regards,

Martin
