Hi All,
I have some raw flight lines that have the flight line number assigned in the File Source ID.
I would like to pass this to the Point Source ID during tiling or merging in lastile or las2las.  Does anybody know if this is possible?
Is there a -copy_file_source_ID_into_point_source switch? I don't see it in the -h list for las2las or lastile.
Thanks for your help.
Glen.

Hello,

there is the option '-apply_file_source_ID' in lastile that assumes the input are flight lines with the file source ID correctly populated. This will then copy the file source ID to the point source ID of each point and set the file source ID of the resulting tiles to zero.

Hi Martin,
Wow, seems like you've thought of everything.  Do you dream in Lastools scripting?
Thanks for the information.
Would there be a similar option if Channel number were assigned to one of the other header attributes (assuming I had assigned the flightline number and channel number using lasinfo)?
Thanks,
Glen.

Hello Glen,

there is not because the LAS header has no field for storing a scanner channel. Would have maybe been a good idea to add such a field in when we designed the new LAS 1.4 and the point types 6 through 10 that support to store a 2 bit scanner channel per point ...
