Hello,
I am interested in seeing how older (existing) LiDAR software behaves when it comes across a LAZ file that contains content compressed with the new "native LAS 1.4 extension" of LASzip. For any Windows software that uses LASzip via the "official" DLL you should be able to simply switch out the older DLL with the latest version and be able to decompress the new content. I tried that with FUSION and it worked. But this may only work for reading compressed LAS 1.4 not for writing compressed LAS 1.4.
Here is the file 'pentagon_LAS14.laz' that can be read by all recent LAStools releases:
lasinfo -i pentagon_LAS14.laz
lasview -i pentagon_LAS14.laz
How does your software behave? Can you try and report back (with version number)?
