Hello,

Is there a way within lastools to cut adjacent strip data to the centre of the overlap region so that the output has no overlap between strips?

Kind Regards,

Hello,

the tool you are looking for is "lasoverage". Assuming you have a LAS ir LAZ tile with the flightline information and the scan angles correctly populated. This means that the info about which point is from which flightline is stored in the point_source_ID field of each point and the scan_angle_rank is populated too.

This is already available for many years. You can either drop the points, reclassify them to classification 12, or mark them 'withheld'.

A new version of lasoverage is available soon (it will be released later this week) that targets particularly the new requirements in the US market where the new LAS 1.4 point types are mandatory and the "operlap flag" (which Karl from the USGS would call "overage flag") is the mandated way of correctly marking these overlap (aka overage) points that can then be excluded with the new '-drop_overlap' filter. The new release will be announced soon.
