Hello!
I will give extra credit for Building a network class if you attend this and write a 1 page summary of it (turn it in next week by Wednesday). Sounds really interesting.
For my eco-ambassadors, you may be interested in this as well! Pass the info along! Eco-ambassadors, I will be attending a funeral so will not be at the meeting Friday.

Subject: KU Colloquium 2/9 - "Sé la Semilla del Cambio - Be the Seed of Change"
Colleagues – if you are free this coming Friday afternoon, this might be of interest to you, your students, and your advisees:
Geography & Atmospheric Science Colloquium
Join us on Friday, February 9, when our colloquium guest will be Dr. Patrick Mucia, Seed Bank Coordinator, Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute (IMAP), Guatamala.
He will present:
"Sé la Semilla del Cambio - Be the Seed of Change"
Meet and greet at 3:30 p.m. in 205 Lindley Hall.
Colloquium at 4:00 p.m. in 317 Lindley Hall.
Refreshments will be provided.
In Mesoamerica, major efforts are underway to conserve native seeds, biodiversity, and traditional agricultural knowledge. One such effort is being led by the Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute (IMAP) in the western highlands of Guatemala. As a Maya Kaqchikel organization, IMAP promotes native and heirloom seeds as the fundamental basis for sustainable agriculture and the future of sustainable development in the Mesoamerican region. For the past five years, Patrick Evelio Mucia has been an integral part of this effort as IMAP’s Seed Bank Coordinator.
In his talk, Patrick will discuss the challenges of native seed conservation in Guatemala and how community seed banks are implemented and managed. He will also report back from the International Permaculture Convergence in Hyderabad India, and share details about the 6th Continental Seed Freedom Gathering taking place this coming March in Guatemala.
