With apologies...
It's a year since my last response here and, as saddened as I am by Steve Moring's passing, I must note that this email thread (initiated in April 2016)  is the last I've seen regarding/ referencing FarmResettlementCongress.org -- failing an immediate reply from ANYONE regarding a reimbursement AND transfer of the domain registration, I will contact GoDaddy to cancel the domain in order to recover the $40 (two years of registration fees*) which just disappeared from my checking account. I'm on a limited income and cannot afford to foot the bill. Nuf sed.

* somehow GoDaddy set it for a 2-year renewal. Bad for me... unsustainable.

All the best,
Dave Lawrence

$20 is about 5% of my monthly income. I won't be renewing this domain again on my dime. Pass it on. Have a great Sunday.

Laura, and KPC Community

I read over the article, and although it sounds good, the K-State crowd of academics are touting training of veterans in traditional agriculture, producing commodity crops and livestock.  What they always omit to point out is the economic reality that going into Ag with out deep-pocket financing, debt, etc. is economical unfeasible.  Farmers in this country have to be subsidized by the government and despite this they barely keep their heads above water.  This issue is what the Farm Resettlement Congress was all about.  We need to train these vet in non-traditional Ag with a focus on organic and a local market focus.  These vets need to learn about sustenance farming first, powering down, and working debt free, and then growing a viable farm business on a new model.

There needs to be an economic revolution in agriculture similar to what happened in Cuba, before we can make a transition.  Right now industrial agriculture model for the individual, small farmer is a dead end.
