You may have read in the Sustainability Action Newsletter, the long sought-after urban ag Code amendment will be heard at the Lawrence City Commission this coming Tuesday night, and can be accessed at - http://www.lawrenceks.org/agendas.  It's a well developed and vetted Code amendment.

But there's one very strident opponent that has been hitting the Journal-World letters forum, and also sent a long letter to the City Commission.  See his letter at:
City Commission agenda item #3, attachment "Staff Response to Reynolds correspondence" at this link:
http://lawrenceks.org/assets/agendas/cc/2016/04-26-16/pl_ta-15-00346_staff_memo_response_to_david_reynolds_communication.html

Read his stuff here in the J-W forum, about halfway down the string:

After 10 months of collaboration and meetings to craft this amendment, it's important to follow through on this final step, and see to its approval.  Don't let one fly in the ointment render all our work as meaningless.  Please attend the City Commission at 5:45pm on Tuesday, 26 April, Lawrence City Hall.

keep growing!

As a member of the Douglas County Food Policy Council, I can't agree more with Michael. The Council and the Douglas County community have put an incredible amount of collaboration, effort, and research into the proposed urban ag amendments over the past 10 months to help ensure that these changes are something that will empower residents of Douglas County and enrich communities. It would be a shame to see any of these proposed amendments undone by the few who oppose them, especially without the voices of the many who uphold them being represented and having their perspectives and voices heard.

As Michael stated earlier, the urban ag amendments will be heard at the City Commission meeting at 5:45pm on Tuesday, April 26 at Lawrence City Hall.

Let's see these changes through together. I hope to see many of you there!

Youth Representative

Douglas County Food Policy Council
