The
2016 Radical
Mycology
Convergence
In case
you haven't
been following
the Radical
Mycology blog,
the Radical
Mycology
Collective is
excited to announce
the 4th
Radical
Mycology
Convergence!
Set to take
place this
October 6-10
in Wingdale,
NY, this
year's
Convergence is
set to raise
the bar yet
again for
evolving
human-fungal
relations.
The Radical
Mycology
Convergence
(RMC) is a
5-day,
donation-based,
volunteer-run
gathering of
fungal
enthusiasts
and activists
that teaches
numerous ways
to work with
fungi to
strengthen the
personal,
social, and
ecological
systems of the
world. For
the first time
we are
bringing this
unique
grassroots
event to the
east coast and
the workshops
that have been
confirmed for
this special
occasion are
incredible.
View
the RMC's
schedule here.
Register for
the RMC here.
Call
for Volunteers
and Donations
The RMC relies
on volunteers
and donations
to help the
event reach
its full
potential. If
you are
interested in
contributing
to the event
in this
capacity you
are invited to
sign up as a volunteer
here
or check out
our
donation
wishlist
here.
Fertile
Substrate: A
Pre-RMC Course
To ensure that
the hosting
site is fully
prepared for
the RMC, there
will be a
small
work-n-learn
party on-site
the weekend
prior to the
RMC (Sept. 30
- Oct. 2). For
more details
on this
special
Pre-Course,
RMC
Fundraising
Toolkit
For
folks on a
tight budget,
we have also
put together a
small fundraising
toolkit to
help
individuals
and groups
cover their
travel and
donation costs
for the RMC.

Radical
Mycology Tour
Update
The RM book
tour has been
a major
success the
last few
weeks. Almost
all of the
stops have
been met with
packed out
rooms and an
incredible
amount of
excitement
surrounding
the rise of
Radical
Mycology as an
ethos and
evolving
dialogue
across the
country. Doing
the work day
in an out, it
can be hard to
realize how
far my efforts
reach. Many
thanks to
everyone that
has come out
so far to
support the
tour, pick up
a book, give
me a hug or
high five, or
just geek out
on mushrooms.
Your
collective
passions have
left me
feeling
blessed,
moved,
reinvigorated,
and overall
stoked on the
energy and new
friendships I
have been met
with. I hope
to see you all
again!
That said,
there are
still 6 more
weeks of the
tour to go!
All the rest
of the tour
stops are
detailed at
the bottom of
this email and
can be seen here,
with the exact
address and
time for each
event found by
following its
associated
"FB" link. As
a part of the
tour I am
holding 4 more
weekend-long Mushroom
Cultivation
&
Application
Courses
across the
country:

Radical
Mycology Book
Reviews and
Interviews
"...[T]he
best work on
medical
mushrooms that
exists in
print. It is,
well, incredible." – Stephen Buhner,
author of Sacred
Plant
Medicine,
Sacred &
Healing
Herbals Beers,
and Healing
Lyme
"...[Radical
Mycology]
deserves a
reserved spot
on the
bookshelves of
all amateur
and
professional
mycologists. I
highly
recommend it."– Robert Rogers, author of The
Fungal
Pharmacy
The book Radical
Mycology
has picked up
some good
coverage this
last month.
- I
did a pretty
dense
interview with
Diego Footer
of
Permaculture
Voices talking
about a
range of
fungal
cultivation
practices
and low-impact
integration
practices
covered in the
book. I am
also now a
regular
contributor to
the Ask Voices
section of the
PV site. You
can check out
weekly
questions I
answer, as
well as enter
your own
questions, here.
- I
also had an
extensive talk
with Ayana
Young of
Unlearn &
Rewild about
the deeper
cultural and
ecopsychological
impacts that
fungi have
held on humans
since
pre-history.
Though I tend
to do
interviews
about the
practical
implications
of working
with fungi,
these more
subtle fungal
roles in our
collective
history are
some of the
most inspiring
topics for me
and Ayana
pulled out
some amazing
questions to
help do the
topic justice.
Part one of
that talk is here
and Part 2 is
here.
- The
New Food
Economy did a
nice write up
on the book here.
- And,
lastly, the
local rag The
Willamette
Weekly, named
me "Best
Mushroom King"
of Portland in
their annual
"Best of
Portland"
issue.
That's all for
now. I hope to
see you all on
the road, at
the
Convergence,
or somewhere
in the
mycozone.
For the fungi,
Peter |
