Dear Friends,

This is to announce that Vajra Farm is hosting a Permablitz on Sunday, April 17 from 10 am to 5 pm.

We need help with the maintenance of fruit & nut trees in our food forest.  This will involve removing grass and brush around trees, placing mulch and wood chips, along with planting of a few trees and other perennials.  We are also accepting donations of perennial guild species t plant around trees.

Our forest garden has been an on-going project since 2009 when we applied for and received a SARE grant to help create an infrastructure of edible species.  Since then it has grown with the help of friends, apprentices, permaculture students and blitzers.  This last year we harvested hazel nuts, a few chestnuts, pawpaws, persimmons, aronia berries and apples, peaches, and cherries.  Come to learn how we have done it!

For this event I will provide most of the needed tools and sustenance (lunch and drink). But if you have a shovel or hoe please bring it along.  Please let me know if you can join us. Please RSVP by Friday. I will then send directions

Hopefully we will experience a glorious spring day and good weather.
What say you?

Hey Steve,

Yes, I would love to join your efforts this upcoming Sunday.  I will plan on being out there in the morning, hoping for a day of sunshiny weather or as close as we can get.  Thanks for putting this opportunity out there, I'm intrigued and interested in getting to know the food forest system in the real world - outside the context of a book/video.  My girlfriend also may come if she has time that day, I'll let you know when I know.

Cheers,
Taylor

Hey! I like this second email better :)
I won't be able to attend on Sunday due to church and PermaCommons, but would you need help on Saturday?

If I don't have to go back to McPherson this weekend I would love to join. Will there be any other opportunities to get our hands dirty this spring that you know of?

Steve,

I'm sorry to report that there is a local community meeting tomorrow that I very much need to attend to.  My apologies for the last minute notice.

Regards,
-Taylor
