The BIG summer party is here, and we have a
great event for you featuring lots of FOOD - MUSIC - DANCE -
LOVE. By popular demand (on a very scientific facebook poll),
it has been scheduled for Saturday, June 4.
Abbreviated schedule follows - please see the backside of the
flyer (attached) for full schedule and more information.
Please share with anyone you think might be interested. All
this information and more is available on www.brushyrun.farm.
2:00 PM - Gates open, and musicians are encouraged to get an
early start on the carousing. We're excited about the great
old-time players who have already said they're coming, and
would love to see many more regional players present. Our
featured guest band is the JUNK YARD DOGS from Boulder, CO!
4:00 - Food Forest Workshop (interactive talk) led by Amber
Lehrman, permaculture instructor from Lawrence.
4:30 - KEYNOTE SPEAKER - James Sperman of GreenFin Gardens (www.greenfingardens.com).
James grows tilapia, bananas, figs and much more in
pit-style tunnel greenhouses. Yes, in Kansas. While his
"cover story" is that his goals are to take good care of his
family and run a small business, this prolific and visionary
innovator is blazing a path toward nothing less than
sustainability for society at large. Don't miss this
presentation if you like to eat high-quality food, and if
you'd like you and yours to continue eating into the
foreseeable future.
6:00 - Potluck Dinner and Social
7:15 - Barn Dance, featuring contra and square dancing for
all skill levels. No partner required. Music by the JUNK
YARD DOGS, a terrific old-time stringband from Boulder, CO.
Calling by Lisa Harris and Jill Allen of Lawrence.
AFTER THE DANCING, the party will
morph freely to accommodate the energies present. Musicians
are encouraged to keep on playing, dancers are encouraged to
keep on dancing, and all are encouraged to keep on keepin on
until we're done. Bring something to share in the late-night
snack potluck, to augment the yummy scraps left over from
dinner.
Suggested donation $6-8. Directions available at www.brushyrun.farm.
Brushy Run is a semi-outdoor venue, and any event may be
postponed or canceled due to weather. ALWAYS CHECK THE WEB
SITE BEFORE TRAVELING!
Looking forward to seeing you! Doug

I'm having surgery June 2 and don't think I will be up to dancing or anything else by the 4th. Have fun.
Thanks!
