We're experiencing a slight issue: When our users (who use the Kiwiirc interface) disconnect, their connections stay active on our server side. This results in multiple connections being established from the same IP and thus they get killed when the session limit is reached. When you look at these connections, you can see the nicks are still online, even after you /kill the connections, (they simply reconnect). The users definitely close their browsers and even use /disconnect. This sometimes happens for hours even after they've disconnected. Any thoughts?

Maybe this is a daft question, but are some people choosing to check the box below. On my website, I've instructed my users with this graphic in order to prevent the problem you describe.

PS. I'm no KiwiIRC or server expert... just thought I'd add my 5 cents ;)

Something else I thought it might be... do you users connect via an app or mobile browser? Sometimes when the app or mobile browser runs in the background, or if the browser opens a background tab it might cause that issue?
