How do I drag a rectangle for placement on a canvas?

The rectangle is created, shows up centered and then is immediately draggable, so further touches will drag the rectangle.  To place the rectangle a double tap is used.

How do I accomplish that in the simplest way?  DragBehavior has no programatic examples AFAIK: I am not interested in the Kivy Scripting lang.
