Hi All,

After a clean upgrade from my activestate python to 2.7.10, I followed the new instruction for 1.9.1 through pip.
I'm stuck with kivy.deps.gstreamer not finding a suitable version:
Here is the log:

C:\Users\mrs.opoyen>python -m pip install --upgrade pip wheel setuptools

This has been fixed. It was a problem with the website that served the gstreamer wheels. Also, we enabled https for kivy.org so the command to use is now
python -m pip install docutils pygments pypiwin32 kivy.deps.sdl2 kivy.deps.glew kivy.deps.gstreamer --extra-index-url https://kivy.org/downloads/packages/simple/

I confirm this is working indeed.
Thanks !

I'm still getting this error.  Using Python 3.5.1 on a Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit system.  I get the following error when running python command below:

"Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement kivy.deps.sdl2 (from versions: ) No matching distribution found for kivy.deps.sdl2"

docutils, pygments, pypiwin32 all load fine.

Any ideas?

No depencies exist for python 3.5. Try installing gstreamer on python 2.7 or 3.4.

I tried everything to install gstream but I get still the following error:

Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement kivy.deps.gstreamer (from versions: )
No matching distribution found for kivy.deps.gstreamer

I am trying to install it at work from behind a proxy.

I had this error too.

I got it to work like this:
go to the page https://kivy.org/downloads/packages/simple/
follow the link kivy.deps.gstreamer
download the wheel appropriate for you
at a command line, change to the download directory
run "pip install kivy.deps.gstreamer-0.1.5-cp34-none-win_amd64.whl" (whatever wheel you downloaded)

I don't know if anyone is still around here, but I was having the same issue where I was receiving the error 'Could not find version . . .' etc. while trying to install kivy and it's dependencies. My issue was with 'kivy.deps.sd12', and my issue was that this wasn't 'kivy.deps.sd[TWELVE]', but was actually 'kivy.deps.sd[L]2'. It was a silly mistake, but I thought this would help anyone else prone to silly mistakes like this (as I am).

Has anyone found a fix for this yet?  I'm having the same errors for glew and gstreamer  (kivy.deps.sdl2 and kivy.deps.gstreamer)

thanks,

I'm also having problems on Windows, but it seems like a different error:

Same error here, I can't install Kivy's GStreamer deps by any method and get the 502 when hitting that URL.

Try again.  I was able to download this morning.  Though it seems bursty; I'm using my cached copy now.

I am unable to download gstreamer on Windows. I get the below error. Also, I cannot download the wheel via my browser because it gives a 502 error.

So is Kivy a dead project now for windows since there has been no way to install kivy for months now?

I have found the wheels packages here : https://kivy.org/downloads/appveyor/deps/gstreamer/

So, just need download one of them (look about python version 2.7 or 3.5 and plateform win32 or  amd64) and install the dowloaded package using :

python -m pip install kivy.deps.gstreamer-0.1.6-cp34-none-win_amd64.whl

for example

That link 404's, all of the links in this thread regarding kivy.org/downloads/ 404. Has kivy just silently dropped Windows support?

I'm currently roadblocked by this error:
Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement kivy.deps.gstreamer (from versions: )
No matching distribution found for kivy.deps.gstreamer

Hopefully due to these two links 404'ing, that will be remedied soon?

I kinda sorta maybe found a tmp workaround, though I have no idea why this worked on one Windows machine but not another...both are identical laptops: HP Notebook with an AMD A10-9600P running Windows 10 Home, with Python 2.7.10 installed

Machine 1
  1. Performed uninstall and fresh install of Kivy and all dependencies (skipping gstreamer install due to no matching distribution error, step #3 on Kivy website)
  2. Downloaded gstreamer_dev 0.1.5 despite my Kivy installation of stable version 1.9.1 (non-dev setup)
  3. pip install kivy.deps.gstreamer_dev-0.1.5-cp27-none-win_amd64.whl complains it's the wrong platform, odd since this is an AMD x64 machine
  4. Let's try 32 bit for the heck of it
  5. Oh look it worked, Python27 < Lib < site-packages < kivy.deps.gstreamer_dev-0.1.5.dist-info < WHEEL lists the cp27-non-win32 tag
  6. A simple Kivy app (that draws using gstreamer) runs no problem
Machine 2
  1. Repeated #1 above
  2. Repeated #2 above
  3. Let's try 32 bit first this time
  4. Complains it's the wrong platform (which makes sense since it's a 64 bit machine)
  5. Install 64 bit version, no complaints
  6. Same Kivy app as above crashes: "raise Exception('SDL2: Unable to load image') [CRITIAL ][App ] Unable to get a Window, abort."
  7. Scratch noggin
Halp?

Hmm well, now that https://kivy.org/downloads/appveyor/deps/gstreamer/ is no longer 404'ing, installing gstreamer 0.1.7 x64 bit fixed everything (not a big surprise).

Still unclear on the screwy nature of gstreamer 0.1.5 detailed above, but I guess it doesn't matter anymore.
