Food Preserving Group
Kelowna Permaculture group has done a few canning / jam making project last year. And it was fun! and Yummy!
We have very economical access to large kitchen in downtown area. Or, people can host at their home with a few people.

The following is kind of guide line to help organize.  Once date is set, we can put on our website, and e-mail to people.

Organizer (s) to decide:
location, date, time
Type of workshop (canning, salsa making, jam making etc)
Scale of workshop ( home setting, commercial kitchen, etc)
Tools  (cooking pot, canning tools, jars, lids, etc)
Ingredients  - as we grow food, it would be great if we can source ingredient from home or local.

I'm involved with a group setting up a cooperative in Summerland. The name is the Summerland Root Cellar Cooperative (no website yet, but you can reach me any number of ways).
We are fully engaged with the Buy Local, Support Local philosophy.
The Cooperative has several goals:
- to introduce (or re-introduce) folks to the skill or preserving food (beginning with hot-water bath canning)
- to provide a preserving service to folks who cannot preserve their own food
- to provide a facility (and staff, if necessary) that entrepreneurs can rent
- to create value-added locally-sourced agricultural products for wholesale and retail markets.
I would be happy to host a session (or two, or several!) This year, we're renting a FoodSafe-certified kitchen for our sessions. The cost is $45.00 per person (which includes EVERYTHING), plus a one-time cooperative membership ($10 for a lifetime membership).

Just throwing this out there! Hope to get some feedback!
