So many questions, so many comments..........I.............man.  No matter how realistic this thing looked or acted or felt......i mean.....in your mind, wouldn't you always be thinking "I'm f***ing something that's not alive" ???

Yeah, but fantasy is based on the suspension or belief so it'll be a thing.

Indeed many questions. One that comes to mind, what will moral philosophers tells us about this? Will the Pope edict this is akin to infidelity or is harmless self gratification?

I thought masturbation was a sin and if so this would be no different.
The interesting and most difficult question will revolve around sentience and consent. At what point does artificial intelligence become a sentient being and can you rape an android?

Is it? I'm in trouble. Seriously, is it frowned upon by the Catholic church? I have not heard anything about from the pulpit of the protestant churches I have attended/been a member of.

I believe the Catholics are against masturbation, yes. They are really weird about their sex.

Ha......"why" is a funny question to ask a theology, eh?

I could recite their doctrine, but that won't help much. There is an answer to the "why" question, though, and it's one that fits any religion...........why? Universal answer: "Because sometime in the past, some people decided they wanted something a certain way, so they deified it."

Tell someone to do something, they may or may not. Tell them GOD told them to do something.......whoa...now you got something.

Masturbation is already considered a sin in the Catholic church, but with a robot you are not masturbating!!

The stats on masturbation are that 95% of males do it, the other 5% lie.
The Catholic church has for a long time (like 2000 years) said that sex is for making babies; all other uses are sinful. I think that there has been a little loosening of this. They permit rhythm birth control; at least suggesting that sex may be used for non-reproductive purposes.

I am in the 95% that does it.  If the pope don't like it he can find me a girlfriend and I will stop.  LOL

When the Pope goes to confession, I'd hazard that he's in that group, too. Unlikely to cop to it, though.

Interesting and transparent conversation here. Wow.

I don't think masterbation is a sin. Now, if you're thinking about someone other than your wife when you do it... is that helpful or harmful to your relationship with her? How would you feel if you knew she was thinking about your neighbor while she was doing it? It's not a simple thinking from a moral perspective. Few things are.

I think a little perspective and some realistic thinking needs to be applied here.

Fidelity and trust are the cornerstones of a marriage. Can't last if you don't have those. You have to trust your spouse not to stray, and you yourself must never stray so that they can trust you.  That being said, as much as we'd like to think that we are the only person to whom our sig other is attracted........we aint. Humans can be monogamous, but our thoughts and our desires can't just be turned off.  Nor should we expect them to be.

If my wife thinks the occasional dirty thought about some random co worker, or some dude she saw on TV, or even some hot neighbor who mows the yard shirtless.....that is a far cry from infidelity. That's called being human.  A physical connection with your sig other is vital, but it's just a piece of it and it's a PHYSICAL piece. Do you still make her horny? Yeah? Good....so do thousands of other people. But it's YOU she comes home to...and the reasons are psychological, social, philosophical. Those are the vital pieces that keep your attraction, that garner the trust, that demand the fidelity.

That being said, if she's picturing Dom Delouise every single time you do it....there may be a problem :)

But in a healthy marriage, a wife should be able to turn to her hubby and say "goddamn, that guy is hot!".....with complete comfort.

Just my thoughts....yours certainly vary :)

If the hot shirtless neighbor is up for a threesome would it be ok to ask her to come over, or should the wife and I let her host?

I agree, G. Recognizing that someone is attractive is a far cry from infidelity.

And Dom Delouse? Yikes. That made me laugh.
