Bottom icons/toolbar broken with upgrade

I really like K9, but my upgrade to Android 7 on an Nvidia Shield has caused a problem. When viewing a message, the toolbar on the bottom with left and right arrows, the trash can, reply, etc is missing.

They are not missing; they have moved to the top of screen, or in the top right menu.

This move also disapoints me very much.

I have changed phone completely: android 4 => 7; brand HTC => Oukitel. Screen physical size and DPI are completely different.

So the change in look could be related to many things.

I used to like the bottom bar; it was easier to access for my fingers; reaching the top of a 5.8" screen with a single hand is painfull.

In my French phone, tap on the 3 dots top right, answer, reply.

Much more complex than before, but still here.

Your screen shot does not show the triple dot, so, if your device does not have a physical dedicated menu key, you are stuck and need to report a bug.

What do you have in the left menu ?

I think that K9 never had any formatting feature.

it doesn't have the 3 dots but i do have a menu key but I have to 

click that button

click end on the menu

click reply, forward

that makes 3 complete steps 

how is K-9 supposed to "focused on making it easy to chew through large volumes of email" if you have to click 3 separate steps to do anything beside delete the mail?
