mail disappearing from Unified Inbox

I've used K-9 for years.  Just now, whenever I read a message in the Unified Inbox, the message disappears from view.  The message is still visible in the specific inbox for that account.  I don't see any settings that control this behavior.  Is this a new bug?  I haven't changed any settings recently.  Thanks for any help.  This behavior is really annoying.

Nevermind, found the cause. The read messages were being sorted to the bottom of the message list. I must've hit the sort button inadvertently.
