no notifications

I've had to get a new phone and am installing K9. My prior phone had K9 send notifications in the status bar of my Galaxy S4 whenever mail was coming in or going out. I've followed the directions online, have checked the boxes that relate to notifications, but I'm not seeing any. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Thomas,

This may sound obvious, but does the system itself allow K-9
notifications? It might be blocked at that level, see Android system
prefs/notifications and eventually allow K-9.

Hi Thomas,
Well, it depends on the Android version and the brand/proprietary customization.. Here on my Samsung running Android 6.0.1 it's: (open the system prefs then) / Notifications, and in the app list, turn on 'K-9 Mail'.
