I have the jplayer working correctly and everything but I don't want
someone who comes to my page to view the source and see the url of the
mp3 that I am playing. This is because I make and sell beats and if
the user can come and simply look at the url and download it directly
then it will defeat the purpose of trying to sell them. How if there
is a way can I some how hide the url for the mp3 files?

Thanks

There are ways to do this but nothing necessarily failsafe unless you
go a long way.The thing is, most folks can simply open their
"activity" window (in Safari, or firebug, or whatever) and see the mp3
file that is being read. To confuse this, some put a long string
before or after the mp3 name to make the mp3 name itself look
confusing and then also obfuscate/scramble the code (google that for
some online scramblers!). You could possibly use .htaccess modifiers
to tack on or change the mp3 extension itself. I'd be interested if
others had some good tried and true ideas, although this might be a
discussion for some security forums elsewhere..?

Hello J,

Sorry for the delay... I have been away.

I remembered others asking for similar in the past and searched the
group for "protect mp3" and it gave me the 2nd link below, which I'd
luckily linked to the original post, the 1st link, with a discussion
and solution.

Hiding MP3 sources - my not-so-great solution. Any advice to make it
better?

I hope these help.

Best regards,
Mark P.

ps. Searching for "hide mp3" comes up with almost every post ever made
<sigh> since "hide" appears to be used in the show quoted text feature
on the google groups site.
