Module translation not 100% working

First off, I am not a dedicated Joomla programmer, but I create or copy/modify some small stuff every now and then :)
For a game clan website we had this recruitment module originally written by someone else. However he completely dropped support and development for his Joomla extensions several months ago.
Now that new Joomla and PHP versions have come out, the module got outdated and didn't work anymore. To learn more about Joomla extensions I decided to update the damn thing myself.
It all wen't pretty well I'd say, except for a small piece of translations in the back-end.
From the back-end the module can be managed and some simple settings can be made.
Whatever I do with the translations, I can't seem to get the translations working and the buttons just show the text "MOD_WOW_RECRUITMENT_PRIO_...." (various options possible). All other translations of the module in the back-end work fine!
Anyone able to shed some light on this issue and can maybe help me localize the problem?

Something I forgot to mention is that the translations work fine when using the exact same website running on PHP5.6 instead of PHP7.
Downgrading the PHP version is not an option though :)

Installed the module on php 5.6 and php 7.08
Worked identical in both
Sounds like you are missing something in your php install

Sorry I see now that the translation is not working in some of the tabs but its the same in both php versions
